Frequently Asked Questions
Some redness after waxing is normal. Depending on the individual it can vary from no redness at all to very red if you have sensitive skin. If it is your first time being waxed or if it has been awhile since your last waxing you may experience some redness and sensitivity afterwards. This usually subsides within a few hours.
Ideally your hair should be anywhere from ¼ inch to ½ inch long.
On average your wax can last from 4-6 weeks. The more consistent you are with your waxing the thinner the hair will become over time.
Your comfort and safety are important to us. Some medications can thin the skin and compromise your waxing experience. Skin lifting and excess redness are common when waxing on antibiotics, retinols as well as some acne medications. Please tell your aesthetician if you are using any medications prior to any skin treatment.
It is best to wait at least 24 hours after waxing before you go out in the sun or use a tanning bed. As for self tanners it is best to apply them a few hours after waxing to give the skin time to acclimate. Remember waxing is a form of exfoliation. If you apply self tanner before your treatment the wax will take the color right off!
It’s perfectly ok to get waxed while on your cycle, however you may want to do it a few days before or after due to heightened sensitivity at this time.
About 5% of clients are prone to bumps after waxing the bikini, lip or eyebrow area. They tend to subside quickly (usually within a few hours if not sooner). It is difficult to know how your skin will react until you have had your first wax and each area of the body can react differently. When it comes to the face, those little bumps often times are a bacterial infection caused by what you apply to your skin after you wax and not from the wax itself. It is best not to apply makeup to the area for a few hours post wax. Sponges found in compact makeup are notorious for harboring bacteria. Be sure and replace those often. Avoid sweating which may cause a breakout as well as any products that contain perfume until the follicle has had a chance to heal.
Absolutely! Just know you may be a little more sensitive at this time.
Our job is to make it as painless as possible for you but avoiding caffeine before your appointment can help. Some people take ibuprofen an hour before their service to minimize discomfort.
We recommend waxing at least 2 days prior to any special occasion to avoid any lingering redness.
It is best not to put any heavy lotions or perfumes on the skin right after waxing. Pure aloe vera gel can help calm any irritation and soothe the skin. We recommend waiting 24 hours before applying deodorant to underarms after waxing that area. Avoid hot water, chlorine and direct sun exposure for 24 hours after waxing.
